Weather

When planning any marine or coastal activity in Ireland, whether it is a beach walk, boat trip, fishing or surfing mission, it is very important to take into consideration the weather and tides. Particular attention should be paid to the sea area forecast.

Met Éireann is Ireland’s national meteorological agency, which has a network of coastal and marine weather stations (see map below) and provides both coastal and marine weather forecasts.

Also predictive wave models sometimes do not coincide with reality.)

Tides

Irish Tide Gauge Network provides access to the real time tidal information for several coastal locations around the island of Ireland. Irish Marine Institute is responsible for managing this network (see below map for details).
